Save the Date

Save the date cards are a popular, but also very useful tool. They are a must have if you are having a destination wedding. Giving your guests time to save a little money and make travel arrangements to join you.

There are many options when choosing a save the date card. They have actual cards, post cards and my favorite option the refridgerator magnet. You can choose to create them yourself using a template, and also print them. Or you can have them created for you. There are even some websites that you send them out as an ecard.

Which ever way you choose to send them there are a few do's and don'ts:

Do, put your names, date, and venue if you have it on the cards.

Do, create and print them yourself. This can be a fun project to do together. Postcards can be purchased at an office supply store.

Do, think outside the box. They don't have to just be a post card. You could put them on a magenet, on a photo or even a chocolate bar.

Don't, put your registery information on them. Wedding gifts are the guest choice. If they plan on bringing one, they can contact a family member to see where you are registered.

Do, send them around 6 months before the wedding. Giving family and friends time to make travel arrangements, if needed.

Don't, expect your guest to RSVP to your save the date card. This can be confusing.

The Knot Wedding Shoppe has tons of personalize options for your save the date cards.
