Cake Cutting Fees... Take That!

Who doesn't love cupcakes?!

I know that cupcakes are all the rage right now. In fact I have a few cupcake items in my kitchen. And, I know that it is popular right now to have cupcakes instead of wedding cake. What I didn't think of, is what a smart idea this is for getting rid of your cake cutting fee. Cupcakes can cost a bit more, because of the decorations, but if you keep them simple, you might save money.

Just be sure to check with your venue and weigh out the difference in price, no cake cutting fee to cupcake fee. Personally, I would still buy a small cake to use as the centerpiece of the cake table and for the traditional cutting of the cake.

But, I hate having to pay for something I can't see. So, for me this would be the way to say Take That... Cake Cutting Fee! Ha!

Littlest Attendants

It is easy to forget our littlest attendants on this very busy grown up day. Usually, the bride purchases gifts for them along with the rest of the bridal party. But, here are a couple of things you can do to make the day go smoothly for them.

Ask your caterer if they can make a special kid friendly meal for your younger guest. Mac and Cheese or Chicken Fingers would be a hit, I'm sure.

Make them a special coloring book. There are tons of images that you could put together to make them a coloring book. Or you can always buy one with their favorite character.

Putting together a reception basket would be a great idea. It could be filled with paper, crayons, travel games, card games, small puzzles, books, snacks and juice boxes.

To Smash or Not to Smash... That is the Question...

I'm not sure where the tradition of smashing wedding cake into each other mouths came from. I'm not a fan of this for sure. Isn't your wedding day supposed to be the day that you are the most beautiful? You've spent the day getting your hair done and your make up done just perfectly, to have your groom smash a cake in your face?!

Let me ask this? Why can't the couple just use forks? Or some other ideas I found while surfing the web about this very idea; cutting the cake then toasting, putting a dab of frosting on the tips of your noses or just feeding yourself.

One of the tips I thought "amusing" was smash the cake in the Maid of Honor and Best Man's face. I'm sure that would go over well. And why stop there... Find Grandma or your Officiant... Ok, so maybe not, but you see where I'm going here.

Whatever you decide be sure that both the bride and the groom are on board. An unexpected food fight might not be the best way to start your lives together.
